What are you talking about?
Are you engaging in attention grabbing conversations?
Invitations to sessions to expand your repertoire

C2W-200X-gifHey there! Coach Dave Buck here.
What are you talking about” is often used as a challenging pejorative. (that was fun to write. lol) At the same time, it is a VERY good question to consider. What ARE you talking about with people you meet, colleagues and clients?

To get and KEEP the attention of potential clients and strategic partners you have to be provocative and speak to the heart of what matters.

Yes, as a coach, it is good to ask provocative questions and REALLY listen as a way to distinguish yourself. However, it is not enough. You have to bring some new ideas to the table as well.

So the question is: what are your talking points and where are they coming from?

Here are a few things we have found that are working well...
1) Playing a winnable game / playing an unwinnable game.
The coaches in the Your Winning Season program are practicing with talking about the idea of a winnable game. And commenting in conversations that most people are playing an unwinnable game or a game that is not REALLY worth playing with heart and soul. It does get peoples attention and they want to know more - which is the point.

2) Client success stories with tangible results
People LOVE success stories. As a coach, your record for helping people play better and win on their own terms is your most valuable asset. This is why using a method to keep score and track results in tangible terms is so important.

3) Speaking in public
Here the question is: are you talking at all? This is not a new idea, but it is important to repeat. As a coach, YOU MUST have a game plan for speaking in public and a set of topics that you can share your wisdom and build certainty. Being visible and known as an expert is essential to building your reputation and your business.

Along those lines I encourage you to join us on Thursday evening for a Power of Winning call with Stuart Gelles. He has some VERY interesting ideas about using video to get more speaking opportunities.

Stay tuned to the CV Member news in coming weeks as we flesh out a variety of topics for you to add to your conversational repetoire.

Could it be so simple? Could building your business as a coach be largely affected by having interesting things to talk about? Yes.
