There are many ways that a coach can package their coaching services, and the 5 Day format is one of the best ways to combine coaching with the structure of a focused program at an affordable price for those in your network and visitors to your website. They say it takes 21 days to lock in a new habit, but in my experience a whole lot can happen in just 5 days, especially with something like the 5 day program format. Here's how it works... You pick a topic and invite your network to come play with you for 5 days, for a half hour per day. This topic can be anything, really, that provides an outcome. Some examples of what people can do in 5 days. 1. Getting the office and files organized in 5 days. 2. Reducing stress at home with the family in 5 days. 3. Getting 5 new customers, one a day. 4. Crash course in coaching in 5 days. 5. Getting your website up in 5 days. You get the idea... Here's why the 5 day format is so appealing... True,
the once a day for five days call in does take some time
scheduling/planning for folks, they also find the daily but only for 5
day structure to be a welcome 'interruption' in their normal
schedule. There's something about focusing on something,
with the support of a coach and the group, for 5 days that motivates
people. After, it's ONLY 5 days. Most folks can stick it
out. Here's why it's beneficial to you to offer these 5 day Programs... What
keeps the clients sticking with you as their coach is the outcomes that
are occurring due to the support, structure and wisdom that you
provide. So what could be better than offering a super short
coaching program where the focus IS on specific outcomes, and the format
of which will attract only those folks who are WILLING to cause those
outcomes in 5 days. This format filters out those are aren't
serious. And, as folks get results, they come to value their
relationship with you and will look for additional ways to spend more
time with you and many will hire you for 1 to 1 coaching or other 5
days. Once a person has completed their first 5 day, they KNOW it works and the return rate for other 5 day topics can be high. So, part of what you want to do to get this off the ground is to give folks an experience of the 5 day format. Designing a 5 Day Program... There
are several different ways you can approach this. I usually start
with a topic that I know people will find interesting and I make up a
list of 25 steps that, if a person were to follow these exact steps,
they would achieve the outcome/result. So, I make sure the steps
are simple, clear, do able and chunked down to bite sized steps. (Not
baby steps, but close).Another approach is to pick a focus that only requires 5 steps; one per day. The Dynamic Involved... People
in your network will find the 5 day format appealing, for reasons
outlined in my comments above. But once they sign up for your class,
they are wanting an EXPERIENCE of the 5 Day Program, not just the daily
structure or the information. If you're already a TeleClass Leader, you understand that participants enjoy you, the topic and the interaction with the other participants. The same is true for the 5 day format. With one new dynamic added and that's the dynamic of momentum. People get EXCITED about this course/format because they have a sense that they will get somewhere by the end of this week. And, as they take their first steps, momentum is built which adds oomph to the calls each day. This momentum/excitement is contagious and by Tuesday or Wednesday, the participants are driving the call. How to get started... If I were going to offer a 5 day program for the very first time, I'd just email my network and say that I am planning a 5 day program for the week of..... (make it 3 weeks in advance) and share several ideas you're mulling over as the focus of the program. Ask them which one is most appealing (that they would actually sign up for) and/or to tell you what topic idea they have that they WOULD sign up for. That's a quick way to get a read on your network. You can always make the first 5 Day Program that you lead on a topic an R&D/beta version. This takes the pressure off you (and the participants) and gets everyone in the creative/inquiry mode. The next step is to identify the 5 to 25 steps that folks will learn and follow. This, so they can get from A to Z by Friday. Most folks won't get the outcome promised by the Program until the following week or month, but they will have begun the process and learned the steps to take and that's a great start. Fee or free? If you have a strong network and the focus is a sexy/compelling/commercial one, you can probably charge for your 5 day program. Pricing typically runs $99 to $199 for a 5 Day Program. If your network isn't that large or strong, use the 5 Day Program as a way to build and deepen your network of folks who will then have had both an experience of you AND of coaching, even if in a group format. Usually 3 to 15 people are plenty for a 5 Day Program format because people want the chance to share their wins and ask questions about the steps. Remember, bridge rental can be free these days. 30 person bridges are now free via companies like http://www.mrconference.com or you can rent time on larger bridges from http://www.teleclass.com. And, finally... Leading 5 Day Programs is a delight. And you can pick a focus/topic that maybe you're not an expert (yet) on, but want to be. Scheduling a 5 Day on that topic will get you started on the path to learning the key aspects of that topic.
