Key Points About Text vs HTML ezines

1. Start your ezine asap.
Don't let the text vs html decision slow you down.  Choose the easiest way to get started.

2. HTML ezines are the future.  Period.
The public has come to prefer HTML, although it will take a while for all of the ezine to change over.  But they are, cuz the reasons are compelling and the tech (read AOL) issues are being resolved.

3. HTML causes higher reader and response rates.
This, because the format is easier to read and the banner ad or other graphics are more 'obvious' and inviting and their messages are conveyed in a more compelling fashion.  Remember you want RESPONSE RATES, not just subscriber counts.  Big difference.

4. There is a bit of a learning curve with HTML.
You'll need to learn/use something like Front Page or Dreamweaver.  And it does take more time to insert photos, logos and other images.  (But it's worth it...)

5. How to deal with the AOL/text only problem.
You have two options.  You can run two lists (a text-only one for AOL subscribers.  Or you can just skip the AOLers (at least the ones with version 5 or less).  Tough call because AOLs typically comprise 10-25% of your subscriber base.
